Well, a reported Arsenal target might have let the cat out of the bag on international duty.
Arsenal are heavily linked with a move to sign USA goalkeeper Matt Turner.
According to ESPN this week, the Gunners have agreed a £7.4 million deal to sign the 27-year-old.
The report added that the New England Revolution stopper would be coming to North London this summer, not January.
Turner helped his country to a victory over El Salvador on Friday, after the Arsenal rumour broke.
After the game, the goalkepeer signed a Gunner shirt and the player can he heard saying, “I don’t know what my number will be” in respone to the supporter.
Here’s a video of the incident:
Indication?
Well yes it seems like the transfer to the Emirates Stadium has been finalised for Turner, albeit unofficially.
He has a massive task ahead of him next season because as things stand, Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno are both at Arsenal.
However, if Turner is coming in then it would suggest that Leno – linked to Newcastle United this month – is heading out.
But as mentioned, the USA star won’t be arriving until the summer and therefore his German counterpart will have to continue playing second fiddle to Ramsdale.
Even when Turner arrives, he’s almost certainly going to have to settle for a number two spot because honestly, Ramsdale is a brilliant goalkeeper and looks set to command the gloves at the Emirates for many years.
