Transfer expert Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Newcastle United are about to hand Bruno Guimaraes a contract that will make him the club’s highest-paid player. It is believed he will earn a huge £180,000 a week.
Bruno, 24, is on the verge of becoming a Newcastle player and following Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Ecuador – is reportedly expected to undergo a medical on Friday in his home country. Bruno will cost around £43million.
The midfielder, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, is expected to become Newcastle’s third addition of the window after Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood. There is likely to be more.
Speaking on the actual details of Bruno’s contract, transfer expert Jones says Newcastle are going to make the Brazil international the club’s highest-paid player. He is expected to earn an enormous £180,000 a week.
“Bruno Guimaraes is to become Newcastle’s highest paid player with a deal that settles out at just under £180,000-per-week. It’s a massive statement but it’ll also be interesting to uncover what the clauses are if they go down.”
Bruno contract: Brazilian a long-term signing for Newcastle project
You can see what the owners are trying to do. They have targeted players with Premier League experience in their prime to get the Toon out of the situation they currently they find themselves. Wood and Trippier.
They have also been linked with Dan Burn, Jesse Lingard, James Tarkowski – all players in the primes of their careers with enormous Premier League experience. But then, there is the other side of the coin, the long-term aim.
The aforementioned names will get the Toon out of the mire – but the likes of Bruno, Hugo Ekitike, Benoit Badiashile, Mitchel Bakker, the younger players linked with the Toon are long-term. Bruno is a superb signing.
