It’s been quite a frustrating transfer window for Arsenal.

Despite constant speculation to the likes of Arthur Melo, Bruno Guimaraes and Dusan Vlahovic, Arsenal don’t look like getting any of them.

Vlahovic seems destined to join Juventus, Guimaraes to Newcastle and Arthur, well he might stay at Juventus.

However, there’s been a major indication that the Gunners will still sign somebody before Monday’s deadline.

On Thursday, Arsenal terminated Calum Chambers’s contract and the player joined Aston Villa immediately.

It was a surprise decision by the North Londoners, who had Chambers under contract until the summer.

But his departure should, in theory, indicate that Mikel Arteta and Edu will be bringing in another defender to replace him.

Remember, Pablo Mari has already been loaned out this month and with Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares spending time injured in January, releasing Chambers – who can play central defence and right-back – without signing a replacement would be utter madness by the Gunners.

Simply put, Arsenal just aren’t in any position to let the 27-year-old leave without having an alternative player lined up to replace him.

It might not be Arthur, Guimaraes or Vlahovic, but the Emirates Stadium fanbase will almost certainly see a new signing before Monday’s deadline.
