Brighton and Hove Albion defender Dan Burn wants to join Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to The Telegraph.
The report has claimed that Newcastle have had an initial bid for Burn turned down and plan to make a new and improved offer.
The 29-year-old defender himself has reportedly ‘made it clear he would like to return to his native North East’, having grown up a Newcastle fan.
The Telegraph have added that the former Fulham defender ‘does not want to remain on the south coast now that Newcastle have bid for him’.
The Sun have reported that Brighton want £15 million as transfer fee for Burn, and that Newcastle manager Howe is hopeful that a deal will happen.
The Magpies’ initial bid for the 29-year-old was £10 million.

Dan Burn from Brighton to Newcastle is happening
In our view, based on the reports in The Telegraph and The Sun, it does appear likely that Burn will join Newcastle before the January transfer window closes next week.
The Magpies clearly want to sign the defender, who wants to move to St. James’ Park.
It is very likely that Newcastle and Brighton will reach an agreement.
Maybe Newcastle will pay the £15 million that the Seagulls are looking for Burn.
