Peterborough United have announced the signing of Jeando Fuchs just a month the former Dundee United ace confirmed interest from both Celtic and Rangers, as reported by Peterborough Today.
Of the two Old Firm rivals, you can certainly make a case for Rangers needing Fuchs a lot more than their green-clad neighbours from down the road.
As far as number sixes go, Ange Postecoglou has a veritable treasure trove of options at his disposal.
In Callum McGregor, Celtic have arguably the finest midfielder in Scotland pulling the strings. Nir Bitton, meanwhile, has played some of his best football in years under Postecoglou while Yosuke Ideguchi, a January signing from Japan, has the makings of an inspired piece of business.
That’s without mentioning Ismaila Soro.
Rangers, on the other hand…
Ryan Jack’s injury problems are showing no signs of abating, Juninho Bacuna has departed after just half a season at Ibrox and the ailing John Lundstram could soon be following in his footsteps.
So Fuchs, a tough-tackling Cameroon international, could have come in very handy.
Will Rangers or Celtic regret not signing Jeando Fuchs?
Fuchs admitted to FootMercato a few weeks ago that both Celtic and Rangers had been in touch, as had an unnamed Premier League club.
One month later, the former Maccabi Haifa man is signing a two-and-a-half year deal with one of the other suitors he name-dropped during that eye-opening interview on December 5th.

“We enquired about Jeando in the summer,” admits Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson. “But we couldn’t get the deal done so I’m delighted to sign him now.”
Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealed on Twitter that the relegation-threatened Championship outfit have paid a six-figure sum for Fuchs.
“He’s a very aggressive midfielder with great energy,” Ferguson adds. “He breaks play up and he’s good enough on the ball. He gets up against opponents and puts them under pressure.
“He’s so good at intercepting things. He has a great attitude as well. He was very keen to come here. We needed another body in midfield and he will do well for us.”
Whether Rangers will live to regret not renewing their interest in Fuchs, only time will tell.
