Bruno Guimaraes will move to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and not Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, according to Sky Sports.
Sky Sports are reporting that Arsenal will miss out on Lyon midfielder Guimaraes to Premier League rivals Newcastle in the January transfer window.
The midfielder will undergo a medical in his homeland of Brazil on Friday before finalising a transfer to Newcastle.
The Magpies will pay Lyon an initial transfer fee of £33 million plus add-ons for Guimaraes.
Sky Sports have claimed that Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain also want(ed) to sign the 24-year-old Brazil international midfielder.
Guimaraes signing coup for Newcastle, blow for Arsenal
In our view, Newcastle reportedly about to sign Guimaraes ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United is a coup for the Magpies.
Yes, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) are paying a lot for the Brazilian, but that he himself is willing to move to a Premier League club who could get relegated speaks volume.

It shows the pull that Newcastle have.
Arsenal would have been a better team with Guimaraes in it, especially in the long run.
After all, Guimaraes is only 24 and can still get better.
The Lyon no. 39 has made 20 starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 so far this season, providing three assists in the process.
Guimaraes has also given two assists in five Europa League matches this season.
