Alasdair Gold has told his YouTube channel that Tottenham have spoken to the representatives of Hull City wonderkid Keane Lewis-Potter. But Gold states that a move is likely to be a summer deal, not in the next few days.
Lewis-Potter, 20, has been in excellent form for Hull in the Championship this season. Last term, he helped Hull gain promotion with 13 goals and six assists in League One. This term, his form has continued despite a level up.
In his 27 Championship outings, he has scored five times and laid on four assists. Decent-enough numbers, given he is still only 20. The Times reported earlier this month that Spurs had joined the race for Lewis-Potter.
Brentford, Southampton, Leicester and West Ham are also keen – with the Hammers, of course, signing Jarrod Bowen from Hull in a similar move. The Athletic report that Hull value Lewis-Potter in the region of £12million.
Gold gave an update: “Keane Lewis-Potter. He is one that Spurs have been showing a little bit of interest in. They have spoken to his representatives, kind of setting something up for the future.
“I don’t think it is likely they will move this month, it is more for the summer. It is just a case of sounding out, a talented young player that a lot of clubs have their eye on,” Gold continued, on his YouTube channel.
Gold on Lewis-Potter: Another Clarke, or good Tottenham signing?
When Tottenham signed Jack Clarke in the region of £10million from Leeds, he had only played 25 senior matches for Leeds – scoring twice. Lewis-Potter is a level above that, with 103 senior games under his belt at Hull.
Also, he has 35 goal involvements – 23 goals, 12 assists. So, for a fee of £2million more than they spent on Clarke, it is surely a deal that has got to get done. There is potential for him to follow in Bowen’s footsteps.
What Spurs cannot do, is wait long on this one. Yes, Lewis-Potter looks like he will remain at Hull but if Spurs are serious about getting him – a permanent deal and loaning him back to Hull would surely win the race.
