Aston Villa are reportedly very interested in signing Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus, and according to The Athletic, they even scouted him over the weekend.
Bentancur started for Juventus at the weekend in one of the biggest games of the Old Lady’s season as they headed to San Siro to face AC Milan.
Unfortunately for the Villa scouts, they weren’t treated to the most entertaining game of all time. Milan and Juventus ended up being a 0-0 draw, while Betancur was subbed towards the end of the game.
However, despite it being a 0-0, Bentancur was able to impress in this game.
The Uruguayan earned the WhoScored star man award for his performance here, and it’s fair to say he deserved it.
The South American made five tackles and four interceptions as he continuously stifled the Milan attack.
Bentancur is a fantastic player, and he’s previously been hailed by Uruguay teammate Diego Godin.
“He played very well at Juventus. He can make the difference because he plays with the personality of a veteran despite being very young. His personality is outstanding and he has so much room for improvement. He has enough quality to play for a top club,” Godin once said of Betancur.
We’re heading into the final week of this transfer window and it seems as though Villa are seriously considering a move for Bentancur before deadline day.
This certainly seems to be a situation to keep an eye on in the coming days.
