Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that Everton have shown ‘interest’ in signing Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham, as he told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (25/01/22 at 5:15 pm).

The Sky reporter added that, from Ndombele’s perspective, he is ‘more likely’ to head back to France with Paris Saint-Germain in ‘pole position’ to sign him before the January transfer window slams shut.

Things haven’t gone well for Ndombele ever since Spurs paid a club-record fee of £54 million (BBC Sport) for his ball-carrying talents in 2019.

The last time Ndombele played for Spurs was during their comeback win against Morecambe in the FA Cup.

The 25-year-old was booed by his own fans as he left the field of play and it perhaps summed up what those at Tottenham think of him.

Antonio Conte hasn’t used the former Lyon man ever since and it’s pretty clear that his days in north London are done.

Sky reporter Solhekol shared that Ndombele possibly moving to Everton is a bit of a ‘wildcard’, with the man who brought him to Spurs, Mauricio Pochettino, keen on signing him for PSG.

“This one is a bit of a wildcard one,” said Solhekol. “I don’t think it’s going to happen.

“Tanguy Ndombele has been told he can move on loan. PSG have been in talks to sign him.

“I was told this afternoon that Everton were one of the clubs who were interested in taking him on loan.

“As far as the player is concerned, it’s much more likely that he would want to return to France, so PSG are in pole position if he is to leave Spurs. But a bit of interest from Everton.”

Everton are without a manager, so it would be a surprise if they try to bring a player of Ndombele’s ilk to their club with no one in the dugout.

The Frenchman isn’t someone who is flying high, but a player that has been knocked down a few times.

There are some who are questioning whether the Toffees are in a relegation scrap, well, whether they are or aren’t, Ndombele is one of the last players they need in their current situation.

At Spurs, his work rate and effort without the ball has been questioned, as well as his inability to last the full game and play at full throttle.

In Everton’s current situation, the last thing they need is a player like Ndombele turning up on their doorstep, so this should be a big no-no from the off.
