According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are now in talks about a potential loan move for Dele Alli.
The Tottenham midfielder has long been touted for a move to Newcastle. Indeed, many pundits have called this move a mile off, and it’s not hard to understand why.
With all due respect, Alli’s career has gone off track in recent years. He’s gone from being a two-time PFA Young Player of the Year to a peripheral player at Tottenham, and it looks as though he needs to change surroundings.
Pundits have claimed that a move to Newcastle could be just what the doctor ordered for Alli. In a footballing quality sense, he would be a big fish in a small pond. After all, Newcastle are in a relegation battle, while Alli has played in a Champions League final, and now, it seems as though that move could be a reality.
Alli is still a fantastic player. After all, Jack Grealish labelled him as ‘class’ just last month after his starring performance against Liverpool.
Unfortunately though, Alli hasn’t been able to build on that performance against Liverpool, and he’s once again slipped down the pecking order.

However, Alli’s misfortune at Spurs could be Newcastle’s gain, and the Magpies are apparently now in talks about bringing the midfielder to the club on loan until the end of the season.
Whether or not this move comes to fruition remains to be seen. Newcastle are also reportedly closing in on Jesse Lingard, and United may not want to bring in two players who play similar positions.
