The Times claim that Antonio Conte is keen for Tottenham to sell Joe Rodon this month, amid reports Leeds and Newcastle want the Wales star. The defender is struggling for game time under the new Spurs manager.

Rodon, 24, has played just twice since Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham. The Wales international needs a move and now, The Times report that Conte is keen to see the back of the ex-Swansea defender.

The Telegraph claim that Leeds and Newcastle are among the clubs interested in a move for Rodon. The Toon’s priority remains to be Sevilla’s Diego Carlos, but Rodon could be eyed if the Brazilian rejects a move.

Indeed, Rodon has only played 21 times for Tottenham since joining the club in the summer of 2020. A loan could be the most-likely option, but now, it appears Conte wants to see the back of the Tottenham defender.

Conte wants Rodon gone: Leeds or Newcastle best for Tottenham star?

On paper, Leeds are well-equipped at centre-back. Liam Cooper, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Pascal Struijk are four players fighting for two positions. Charlie Cresswell is coming up the ranks, impressing.

Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips are more than capable of covering the central defenders. But Leeds are riddled with injury – Cooper, Llorente, Phillips, Cresswell, Koch and Struijk spending time out this season.

Perhaps, another body might be important there. But Newcastle need a player like Rodon so much more than Leeds. Even if they sign Carlos, a loan for Rodon would be a solid addition on Tyneside.
