Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma wants to join a top-six club amid interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, according to The Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail have reported that Bissouma is Newcastle’s number one midfield target.
Brighton want as much as £50 million as transfer fee for the Mali international midfielder.
The report has added that sources have said that Bissouma ‘has ambitions to join a top-six club’, citing interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Sunday Mirror (09/01, p71) have reported that Arsenal are interested in the 25-year-old midfielder.
Arsenal over Newcastle for Yves Bissouma?
In our view, Newcastle are unlikely to be able to sign Bissouma in the final days of the January transfer window, especially with Arsenal and Tottenham interested in him.

Now, of course, Newcastle have the richest owners in club football, and PIF could easily afford the £50 million that Brighton want for the 25-year-old, described as a midfielder who “has got everything” and is “efficient” by former Arsenal star Ray Parlour on talkSPORT (23 September, 8.40am).
However, we do not think that Bissouma would be tempted to move to Newcastle in the middle of the season.
After all, the Magpies are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.
Arsenal are in the race for the Premier League top four and could play in the Champions League next season.
Moreover, Bissouma is away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, so there is not much time left in the January transfer window to complete a move.
