Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno wants to leave the Gunners amid reported interest from Newcastle United, according to journalist Chris Wheatley on Bhavss14′ YouTube channel.
Football.London journalist Wheatley, who is well-known, well-respected and well-connected, has reported that Leno really wants to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The Germany international goalkeeper wants to play regular first-team football, according to Wheatley.
The 29-year-old, who cost Arsenal £19.3 million in the summer of 2018 (BBC Sport), is behind Aaron Ramsdale in the pecking order at the Gunners at the moment.
90Min reported last week that Newcastle are in talks with Arsenal over signing Leno on loan in the January transfer window.
Wheatley said on Bhavss14′ YouTube channel, as transcribed by TheBootRoom: “Matt Turner is being the subject of a £5 million bid from Arsenal and he’s a player they’d like to get in this month. The player certainly wants to come to Arsenal.
“Bernd Leno really wants to leave to play regular first-team football. Turner deal is pretty much all agreed in terms of the player’s side, it’s just the two clubs that need to agree on the formalities of the deal. I expect Turner to come in.”

Bernd Leno should leave Arsenal in January
In our view, Leno should leave Arsenal in the January transfer window, even if it be on loan.
There is absolutely no point whatsoever for the 29-year-old to sit on the bench week in and week out.
Yes, Ramsdale is a very good goalkeeper, but Leno is good as well.
After all, Leno is a Germany international and was a regular for Arsenal until this season.
So, in our opinion, the 29-year-old needs to find a club where he will play regularly, at least for the rest of the season.
Leno has made three appearances in the Premier League, three in the Carabao Cup and one in the FA Cup for Arsenal this season.
