Diego Carlos’s representatives are now trying to convince Sevilla to sell the defender to Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to 90min.

90min are reporting that Carlos’s representatives have arrived in Seville to hold talks with Sevilla director of football Monchi over selling the central defender to Newcastle.

The Premier League club are willing to pay £30 million for the 29-year-old, but they have had a number of bids for the Brazilian turned down by Sevilla.

However, according to 90min, Newcastle may have to pay £60 million for Carlos if they are to secure his services of the former Nantes defender in the final days of the January transfer window.

What should Newcastle do about Diego Carlos?

If Newcastle are determined to sign Carlos in the January transfer window, then they should compete a deal now and pay what is needed.

If £60 million is what Sevilla want, then in our view, Newcastle should pay it.

Yes, it is an awful lot of money to pay for a 28-year-old, but if that is what Newcastle have to do to survive in the Premier League, then that is what they have to do.

It is as simple as that.
