Richard Foster feels Alex Lowry has ‘something different’ to offer Rangers after scoring on his senior debut against Stirling Albion, while speaking on BBC Sportsound (21/01, 20:35).
Giovanni van Bronckhorst awarded the 18-year-old his Ibrox bow on Friday night in their Scottish Cup fourth-round tie. The Dutch tactician turned to the teenager after Ianis Hagi suffered an early injury. And Lowry found the net within 16-minutes of his introduction.
Lowry had only ever previously appeared in one first-team squad for Rangers before facing Stirling Albion. Former Gers boss Steven Gerrard included the youngster among his unused substitutes during the Premiership giants’ Europa League qualifier at Alashkert last August.

Lowry fired home to break the deadlock after Juninho Bacuna snatched possession after poor play from Stirling Albion’s Jordan McGregor. The teenager carried the ball around 20-yards, skipped past Adam Cummins and drilled home after a smart one-two with Bacuna.
James Tavernier, Cedric Itten and Fashion Sakala would round out the scoring as the Gers won 4-0. But Lowry’s goal offered Rangers a platform to build after Hagi’s impact injury.
Foster in awe of Rangers gem Lowry after inspiring debut vs Stirling Albion
Former Rangers defender Foster feels Lowry can now give Van Bronckhorst another option after his inspiring debut against Stirling Albion. The youngster left Foster in awe as he lifted the tempo of his more experienced teammates against League Two opposition.

“Huge credit to the young lad,” Foster said. “He lifted the entire tempo of the team. He showed great awareness and composure, he’s trying to inspire the older pros. He’s got something different.”
Lowry left Stirling Albion goalkeeper Blair Currie static as he drilled home from the edge of the area to score Rangers’ opening goal on his senior debut in their Scottish Cup affair.
