Liverpool would be very wise to sign a midfielder this summer.

The Reds tried to take a shortcut around signing a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum and, well, the inevitable happened.

Before long, Liverpool had a crisis of midfield options, with Harvey Elliott dislocating his ankle, Curtis Jones suffering a serious eye injury and Naby Keita yoyo-ing in and out of the treatment room as per usual.

Last summer, the Anfield outfit were heavily linked with a transfer of Lille star Renato Sanches.

An injury for the Portugal international put paid to any potential move to Merseyside, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp might be still keen – especially after a new report.

According to Alfredo Pedulla in Italy, Sanches has elected against signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 outfit and is ready for a ‘new adventure’.

This, if true, is likely going to alert Liverpool.

Earlier this month, Fabrizio Romano, a reliable source, revealed that the Premier League club have ‘always’ had Sanches on their radar.

And with Liverpool needing a midfielder this summer, and Sanches wanting a new club, well it would appear as if the stars have aligned for both parties and it’ll be interesting to see if a renewed attempt to prise him from Lille is made.
