R&B singer Ari Lennox has vowed to not do interviews anymore after her appearance on MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho’s podcast.
The South African podcaster asked Ari a personal question on his Podcast and Chill show and that just didn’t go down well.
She took to Twitter to call him out, claiming she felt “ambushed and blind sighted.” A clip from the interview showing Ari’s reaction to MacG’s question has gone viral and fans on social media have had their say.
What did MacG say to Ari Lennox?
Ari recently sat down for an interview with MacG. During the conversation, the host proceeded to ask about her single ‘Pop’ which consists of explicit lyrics.
The song talks about a woman sleeping with a man among other things.
MacG went on to comment on the lyrics and decided to ask if the singer is sleeping with anyone in the present time.
The question didn’t sit well with Ari for obvious reasons and she responded saying: “Oh my god. That’s a wild question. Why ask it that way? Whoa.”
MacG is seen laughing as he says: “Because that’s what you say in your song.”
Singer asks why no one intervened
Ari shared a series of Tweets expressing her thoughts on what unfolded during the interview.
She wrote in one: “Just because I happily and freely sing/write about sex don’t make any kind of creepy disrespect warranted. I clearly was in immense shock and hate that I didn’t react differently.”
The singer, who was caught off-guard by the host, expressed in another tweet that she was shocked to see that no one intervened when MacG asked her about her personal life.
“I’m just like… why was I alone on a call full of people? Why didn’t anyone intervene? And why wasn’t parts of the interview destroyed like the team promised? Why did it happen to begin with? I just feel slow and ambushed and blind sighted,” she wrote.
Ari Lennox vows to not do an interview again
After expressing her disappointment in what happened on the podcast, Ari said on Twitter that she’s “exhausted” and “as for interviews, I’m not doing them anymore. There’s enough lives and interviews out there already.”
In the following tweet, she said she wouldn’t allow anything to tamper her peace anymore and that she has been in a happy place since she’s gone sober.
“I’ve been my most happiest creating music and exploring life sober. I’m not allowing anything to tamper with my peace anymore,” she wrote.
MacG hasn’t responded to Ari yet, but he’s seen re-tweeting others’ posts surrounding the situation.
