TeamTalk report that Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are two of four Premier League sides interested in Derby County skipper Tom Lawrence. Fulham are also keen, as are Brighton and Burnley.
Lawrence, 28, has continued his excellent form this season – despite Derby’s struggles. Wayne Rooney’s side are continuing to keep faith in that they can pull off a miraculous recovery – despite a 21-point deduction.
The Rams are now eight points from safety and their form of late has been good – winning four of their last five. Lawrence scored a brace last time out, in a 2-0 win over recently-relegated Sheffield United – a brilliant win.
But Derby could be in danger of losing Lawrence, who is out of contract at Derby this summer. Indeed, Newcastle, Wolves, Brighton and Burnley are all battling Fulham to sign the 23-time Wales international this month.
Newcastle and Wolves eye Lawrence: Which club is best fit?
While Burnley are renowned for bringing Championship players to the Premier League, they look even more perilous than Newcastle at the moment. He might be in the Championship once again, if he joins them.
At Newcastle, at least there is a bit of hope as the signings continue to come in. Newcastle are also a much bigger club than Burnley and that is likely to be tempting. Wolves have better options in attack.
But if Adama Traore goes, Lawrence could come in – that depends on Tottenham. Brighton would be a good move, but would he start? Newcastle might be his best option, with days remaining in the window.
