According to the Daily Mail, Aaron Ramsey has rejected Newcastle, and is interested in joining Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace.

What’s the story?

Well, the 31-year-old is set to leave Juventus for the Premier League, with Massimiliano Allegri describing him as an “outgoing” player.

The Daily Mail believe Ramsey feels he can earn a move to a high-profile side in England, despite his struggles in Turin.

So far this season, the 71-cap Wales international has only played 98 minutes of football in Serie A, due to injuries and competition for places.

As well as Newcastle, Ramsey has turned down approaches from Wolves and Burnley, but not Crystal Palace.

The Daily Mail are claiming that the Welshman is interested in joining Vieira at Selhurst Park, although the Eagles aren’t so sure anymore.

The report states Crystal Palace were considering a move, but have now pulled out of the race to sign Ramsey.

Newcastle can react to Crystal Palace decision

Now the south Londoners are no longer interested in Ramsey, it gives Newcastle and Eddie Howe a chance to make another push.

Yes, the Magpies have already been rejected, but if they really do want to sign the ex-Arsenal man, Palace’s decision could throw up a lifeline.

For example, should we get closer to deadline day and Ramsey still looks no closer to leaving Turin, an enticing offer from Newcastle could be enough.

The £175,000-a-week man won’t want to spend another six months on the sidelines, so we feel a move to Tyneside could happen if Palace really have pulled out.

With his vast Premier League experience and eye for goal, Ramsey could be exactly what Howe needs to help Newcastle avoid the drop.
