Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are ready to pay Dusan Vlahovic more in salary than Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, according to The Independent.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Miguel Delaney has written in his weekly newsletter in The Independent that Newcastle have told Vlahovic and his camp that they are willing to pay him more in salary than Premier League rivals Arsenal.
The report has added that the Fiorentina striker has turned down the Newcastle owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Arsenal target Vlahovic’s transfer to Newcastle unlikely
In our view, Newcastle are unlikely to be able to sign Vlahovic in the January transfer window or in the summer of 2022.
The 21-year-old Serbia international striker is one of the best young players in the world.
The Fiorentina no. 9 has scored 17 goals and provided two assists in 21 Serie A matches so far this season.

Vlahovic scored 21 goals and gave three assists in the league last season.
Newcastle are in in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
In our view, the prospect of playing in the Championship is not going to appeal to Vlahovic at all.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will be able to bring the Fiorentina striker to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
La Nazione have reported that the Gunners plan to make a big bid for the striker, who is “lightning” and whose “left foot is like a wand”, according to former Manchester City and Fiorentina defender Micah Richards on BBC Radio 5 Live in December 2021.
