Tottenham have reportedly postponed talks with AC Milan over the potential sale of Japhet Tanganga, with discussions set to resume next week.
According to CalcioMercato, Fabio Paratici has put negotiations on ice following month-long discussions with Milan over Tanganga. The Italian giants are eager to loan in the defender, whilst Spurs prefer a permanent exit.
As per the report, Paratici has slapped a €25m (£20m) price tag on Tanganga, a valuation Milan are willing to meet if a loan deal is unreachable in the final few days of the January transfer window.
Tanganga has been in and out of the Spurs team this season, with the defender making 18 appearances in all competitions and starting last night’s dramatic 3-2 win against Leicester City.
At 22-years-old and an England youth international, Tanganga is a player who could become part of the Spurs furniture. However, it appears that Paratici is eager to sell the youngster with Milan keen on the defender.
Indeed, a £20m sale for Tanganga would be impressive business from Spurs. However, this latest roadblock could work in Milan’s favour in getting a better deal for the centre-back, with the Italian side eager to side a defender this month.
Milan can use added time to pry Tanganga from Spurs for cheap

A player Gary Neville labelled as ‘really special’, Tanganga has the potential to become a solid defender when in the right environment. And Milan could well be this club, with the Rossoneri already having success with Fikayo Tomori over the past 12 months.
With Milan eyeing Tanganga and talks now at a pause, the Serie A side could use this time to work their magic on Paratici to get a better deal for the Spurs defender, and one that could likely suit both parties come the end of the month.
