According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Brenden Aaronson is now Leeds United’s top transfer target this month.

The Whites have been linked with Aaronson for quite some time now, and it was reported earlier this week that they’d even had a bid rejected for the American.

Interestingly, The Daily Mail reported that the Whites would go back in for Aaronson, and now the Yorkshire Evening Post have named him as United’s top target.

Indeed, while it may be argued that Leeds need something of a squad reshuffle this month, the YEP claim that Leeds actually aren’t in for anyone else other than Aaronson, cementing the midfielder as their number one target.

So, what type of player will Leeds be getting if they sign the American?

Well, Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner has described him as ‘unique’ in the past.

“Brenden is quite a unique player, and that’s the reason why so many people are very interested in him at this moment,” Tanner said.

A unique player heading to one of the most unique teams in the Premier League seems like a perfect fit, but as with any January signing, Leeds have to tread carefully here.

Indeed, with the Whites stll in the midst of a relegation battle, they need to get their recruitment right this summer, and as we’ve seen so many times before, it can take some players quite some time to adjust to Marcelo Bielsa’s system.

Aaronson is Leeds’ top target, and it will be interesting to see if the Whites can make any progress on this front before their crucial clash against Newcastle at the weekend.
