According to UOL, Arsenal are interested in signing Atlético Mineiro wonderkid Savio, and have discussed a move for the prodigy.
What’s the story?
Well, Arsenal are no strangers to the Brazilian market after the £6m deal which saw Gabriel Martinelli arrive in the Premier League.
Now, Edu could have another South American gem in his sights.
UOL believe a move for Savio has been discussed internally among Arsenal staff, and there’s a chance of the Gunners making a bid this month.
Arsenal face competition from Red Bull Bragantino, who are said to have already made an offer for Savio.
However, UOL claim that their €5m (£4m) bid was deemed too low by Atlético Mineiro.
Savio has a contract with Atlético Mineiro until September 2023, so this could be the Brazilian side’s best time to sell if the 17-year-old decides not to sign a new deal.
What could Savio bring to Arsenal?

By the sounds of it, Savio would bring plenty of Brazilian flair to the Emirates Stadium.
As quoted by the Guardian, the teenager said football is “a little bit boring” nowadays, and that he wants to “bring more joy to the game”.
Savio – also known as Savinho – made his professional debut for Atlético Mineiro in September 2020, aged just 16 years, five months and nine days.
The Brazilian prospect added that he idolises Ronaldinho, which comes as no surprise whatsoever given how entertaining the ex-Barcelona man was.

Savio said: “My idol is Ronaldinho. I like him because he is bold. He was different, I like everything about him.”
Of course, you may argue that Arsenal need to sign a centre-forward who can walk straight into the first-team, and you’d be right.
However, if an opportunity to poach a potential star of the future arises, Mikel Arteta and Edu have to pounce.
