The much-anticipated sneakers will be available on Sotheby in an auction from January 26, starting at 9:00 am EST, until February 8.

The shoes are available in a range of sizes from 5 to 18. Some of the rarest sizes, including 5, 5.5, 16, 17 and even 18, have been made, with just one pair produced under each size.

Only 200 pairs will be available to buy in the auction.

The bids for the sneaker will start at $2000. According to Sotheby’s, one pair of sneakers’ estimated cost is between $5000 and $15,000.

Meanwhile, each pair will be packed and sold in a Louis Vuitton’s pilot case in monogram-embossed orange leather. It comes with a 3D tag with a white swoosh placed on top.

The sneakers will also be exhibited in the lobby of Sotheby’s New York until February 8.

Proceeds will benefit Virgil Abloh’s Scholarship Fund

The profits from Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1’s auction will be directed towards Virgil Abloh’s ‘Post Modern’ Scholarship fund.

Virgil launched his scholarship fund with a personal donation and funds from his partners Evian, Farfetch, Louis Vuitton, New Guards Group and Nike in 2020.

The aim of the scholarship is to support the education of African-American students.

Speaking about his initiative, Virgil told WWD, “As a Black designer, I found my way through school, and a mixture of creative projects, and I had to make a name for myself.”

“That took a lot of years and a lot of meetings and a lot of runway shows and a lot of work, and I wanted to make that door open for a younger generation to sort of have a pathway that stays open,” he added further.

Fans remember the renowned designer through his new design

Virgil’s fans have taken to Twitter to express their admiration for the late designer’s work. They have also shared their thoughts on the latest collection.

One wrote, “Nike + LV air force to be auctioned off for scholarships for African-American students who want to study design, we should pray to Virgil Aboh”

Another added, “RIP Virgil Abloh, what a beautiful collection. Nike X Louis Vuitton Air Force 1 Collab”

“I wanted to be a boyzao so I could launch this airforce 1 x Louis Vuitton.. what a great collab!! rip Virgil,” tweeted another.
