Pablo Longoria admits Boubacar Kamara could leave Marseille this month, with Newcastle United reportedly readying a bid for the Frenchman’s transfer, via quotes by Foot Mercato.

Kamara has five-months remaining on his Les Phoceens contract and is contemplating his options at and away from the club. The 22-year-old has spent his entire career at the Stade Velodrome, having joined the Ligue 1 outfit’s academy in 2005 and risen through the ranks.

The Marseille-born ace is one of the club’s key men and has sporadically worn the captain’s armband this season. He has also started 19 of his 23 appearances across all competitions.

Newcastle are among the most active sides studying a transfer to sign Kamara before his Marseille contract expires. Marca report Eddie Howe’s side are ready to offer £10m to beat Manchester United to a deal. The Red Devils would prefer to wait until he is a free agent.

But Kamara is very non-committal to remaining at the Stade Velodrome beyond the winter sales. He recently said, via GFFN, that ‘everything is possible’ regarding his future in France.

Longoria admits Newcastle transfer target Kamara could leave Marseille

Marseille President Longoria is also unsure if Kamara is willing to stay and snub Newcastle’s transfer interest. So, they may not resolve the midfielder’s future until the final moment.

“For Bouba, we discussed a lot,” Longoria said. “There is mutual respect, we had good discussions together – with everyone. Logically, if things happen and are good for the player and the club, anything can happen. Respect is important, we will see the decision for June.

“It’s not pleasant to have a player at the end of the contract. Bouba’s respect for this club is great, too. Numerically, we are good. With the arrivals will improve the workforce, it is our opinion… It depends on the movements of the last day.”

OM star Kamara seeking huge salary in his next contract

Newcastle face paying Kamara a huge salary to seal his transfer from Marseille in January. The Sun report the OM star wants £150k-a-week from whichever club he joins, with West Ham also interested. But the Magpies are hesitant to commit amid the threat of relegation.

Howe’s side remain in the drop zone after 20 games, having only won once so far this term. The Toon also have the second-worst Premier League defence after conceding 43 goals to date. Only relegation rivals Norwich in 18th-place have shipped more with 45 in 21 games.
