Leeds United have failed with one bid to sign Red Bull Salzburg star Brenden Aaronson – but they aren’t giving up because he wants to join the Whites.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday night that Leeds had offered £15million to sign Aaronson, but Red Bull Salzburg rejected the bid.
The Daily Mail now claim that Leeds aren’t giving up and intend to make another offer to lure Aaronson to Elland Road this month.
It’s understood that Aaronson actually wants to make the move to Leeds as he fancies working under Marcelo Bielsa.
That’s a major boost for Leeds, who will have real hope of bringing Aaronson to Yorkshire by the end of the month.
The report notes that Aaronson is also wanted by three huge clubs – Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund.
If Leeds fans weren’t aware of what a coup this could be, then interest from those three clubs should make it clear.
Aaronson, 21, has recorded three goals and seven assists in 26 games for Red Bull Salzburg this season.
Formerly of Philadelphia Union, Aaronson is considered to be the next big thing for US football, and he already has five caps in 15 games for his country.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Aaronson could be the long-term heir to Pablo Hernandez at Leeds, bringing energy and creativity in the final third.

Compared to Kai Havertz and branded both ruthless and relentless by Philadelphia Union boss Jim Curtin, Aaronson is a huge talent.
Red Bull Salzburg have sold a host of quality players in recent times, including the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Erling Haaland, Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu.
Aaronson could be the latest big sale, but Leeds will seemingly have to go much higher yet.
Victor Orta may be facing a bill of more than £20million to lure Aaronson to Leeds, but eh simply has to push for it having learned that he wants to play under Bielsa.
Not pushing now and seeing Aaronson eventually join a Barcelona or Bayern Munich would be galling. With Aaronson keen, Leeds just have to pull out all the stops.
