Some Liverpool supporters on Twitter are livid over James Pearce’s latest transfer update.

There are 13 days left in the January transfer window but the bulk of the speculation for Liverpool has centered around outgoings.

The likes of Divock Origi and Nat Phillips have been tenatively linked with departures away from Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side hammered Brentford 3-0 on Saturday afternoon but the result was a tad flattering, given how much the Merseysiders struggled at times without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The Liverpool duo – both at Africa Cup of Nations – are absolutely massive players for the German manager.

And with the Reds 11 points behind top-of-the-table Manchester City, it’s hard to see that deficit becoming shorter over the coming weeks without them.

However, James Pearce, who exclusively covers Liverpool for The Athletic, has written that there is unlikely to be any attacking players signed between now and February.

And with Klopp not needing defensive players, well that pretty much indicates that the Liverpool supporters won’t be treated to a new signing throughout January.

Remember, only one player was signed last summer – Ibrahima Konate – so this is underwhelming for the fanbase.

Here’s how a chunk of supporters reacted to Pearce’s claim on Twitter:

Hostile

This is mild in comparison to the sort of hostility that’ll come toward the Liverpool owners – Fenway Sports Group – if they’re eliminated from the League Cup on Thursday.

Arsenal had 10 men for over an hour in the first leg of last week’s semi-final and still earned a 0-0 draw.

With the Gunners boasting home-field advantage this time, and having had the weekend off, Mikel Arteta’s side could well be favourites against a Liverpool outfit missing both of their best players.
