Who is Luisa in Encanto?
If you’re yet to see the latest Disney masterpiece (or you need a recap), Luisa Madrigal is the middle child of the family in Encanto. She’s the younger sister of Isabela Madrigal and the older sister of Mirabel Madrigal.
Although only a supporting character, Luisa has quickly proved “relatable” amongst fans, with film fanatics admiring her gift of super-strength and her honesty.
Fans demand more merch for “relatable” character
Although Luisa has quickly been crowned a fan-favourite character, finding her merchandise has become a struggle for many.
Much of Encanto’s merch has been focused on Mirabel or Isabella, leaving Disney fans frustrated given that so many – including children – have gravitated towards Luisa.
One upset fan tweeted: “My daughter just asked for a Luisa-themed bday party and literally everything Encanto has Mirabels or Isabellas face on it. And I’m not in the financial situation to have everything custom-made. Disney needs to step it up w/ Luisa merch.”

Another wrote: “Reading a [RUMOURED] Facebook post saying the artist had to fight for Luisa to have big muscles, only for her merch to outsell Isabela’s is the vibe I needed.”

Hopefully, Disney will recognise the importance of supporting characters and how relatable they can be. Perhaps we can expect more characters like Luisa in the future.
