Rangers failed to beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Tuesday night as Gio van Bronckhorst dropped his first Scottish Premiership points as manager. However, fans were full of praise for Ianis Hagi, during the 1-1 draw.

Following the winter break, Rangers were tasked with maintaining their winning run in the league under van Bronckhorst – if they were to re-assert the six-point lead they have over Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top.

Celtic beat Hibernian 2-0 on Monday, but Rangers failed to hold on to a slender 1-0 lead at Pittodrie. With Joe Aribo missing, van Bronckhorst combined Scott Wright, Ryan Kent and Hagi in attacking midfield.

A delightful ball from Wright found Kent in space, and his delightful cross was finished with aplomb by £19,000-a-week (Sport.Ro) Hagi. However, The Gers failed to hold on to the lead – as Aberdeen equalised in the second 45.

What are Rangers fans saying about Hagi, after Aberdeen display?

From the penalty spot, Lewis Ferguson – son of Derek and nephew of Barry – sent Allan McGregor the wrong way to send Aberdeen fans into meltdown. A brilliant point for Stephen Glass’ side. There was one final twist.

Kent was shown a second yellow card for a late tackle on Celtic legend Scott Brown – the Hoops icon certainly making every effort for the referee to see the foul. Gers fans have applauded Hagi for his fourth goal of the season.
