Chris Sutton has claimed that rumoured Tottenham and Newcastle target, Todd Cantwell, has ‘lost his way’ at Norwich City, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

There are rumours surfacing that the 23-year-old is being rated at £15 million, with the likes of Spurs and Newcastle keen to add him to their books.

But it is a surprise there is that interest in him given that he has only played eight Premier League games this season and he is yet to score or assist.

Cantwell found life tough under Daniel Farke at the start of the season and Dean Smith can’t seem to get the best out of him either.

From an all-action and energetic player that likes to attack the box, Cantwell has seemingly lost that drive and hunger in the final third.

Former Norwich man Sutton thinks Cantwell is ‘not worth anything’ now given his recent decline.

“What do you think will happen with Cantwell?” asked Sutton. “He doesn’t seem a happy chap, does he?

On Cantwell’s worth: “Are we going on Todd Cantwell from a couple of seasons ago? Or now? Well, at this moment, he’s not worth anything.

“I think he is on a free in the summer. Nobody has been in for him.

“Ultimately, you have a really talented player. He has lost his way. He needs to get back on track. Maybe he needs to leave Norwich for that to happen. But something is amiss.”

Spurs need a player who can sit in their pockets, play the one-touch football and progress the ball forward.

They would have probably taken someone like Cantwell a number of years ago, but not now.

It’s understandable that a club like Newcastle are lurking around the corner for a player like Cantwell (Telegraph) because they are in desperate need of creativity in the final third.

They have already taken Chris Wood from one of their relegation rivals, so don’t be surprised if the same happens again.
