Leeds United are now the frontrunners to sign Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, with Torino now unable to afford the Serie A star.
According to CagliariNews24, the Yorkshire giants have now found themselves leading the chase for the South American star. This is because Torino aren’t prepared to meet Cagliari’s €25m (£20m) price tag for Nandez this January.
As per the report, Leeds are the only side with the finances to meet Cagliari’s demands for Nandez, putting Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the driving seat for the former Boca Juniors superstar.
Leeds were keen on Nandez in the summer. However, a deal was unable to be reached between the two parties despite months of speculation. And now, it appears that the Premier League side are once again hot on the Uruguayan’s tail.

Described as an ‘unstoppable’ force in the midfield by the Italian media, Nandez could add some extra steel in the Leeds squad as well as some strong competition for the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw.
The Whites have been poor defensively this season. And Nandez could be an ideal solution for Leeds, with the 26-year-old able to play as both a central/defensive midfielder as well as a fullback if needed.
Nandez revelation is too good for Leeds to turn down

With Torino now out of the race to sign Nandez, Leeds have the perfect chance to acquire a long-term target this January for a relatively decent price of £20m.
After all, Nandez is an established international with one of the best countries in South America. And given his versatility, the midfielder could become a quick favourite at Elland Road with both the fans and Bielsa.
