Newcastle United have joined Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the race for Nikola Milenkovic, according to Calcio Mercato.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Newcastle have made contact with Fiorentina over signing Milenkovic in the January transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s side are now reportedly ready to bid for the 24-year-old Serbia international central defender.
Fiorentina could sell Milenkovic as long as they receive an offer that matches their valuation of the former Partizan player.
Newcastle, though, are not the only club from the Premier League club who are keen on Milenkovic, described as “extraordinary” by his former Fiorentina teammate and current Marseille defender Pol Lirola in X-Sport in March 2020.
TuttoMercatoWeb reported earlier this month that West Ham United are keen on the defender, while Corriere di Puglia e Lucania claimed in December 2021 that Spurs were preparing to start negotiations having followed his season closely.
Newcastle should bid for Nikola Milenkovic now
If Newcastle are keen on Milenkovic and Fiorentina are willing to sell him, then, in our view, PIF should bid now.
With West Ham and Newcastle also reportedly interested in the 24-year-old, the Magpies should not waste much time.
Milenkovic is a very experienced defender who has done well in Serie A over the years.
