Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has said that Patrick Bamford could be back against Newcastle United after missing the match against West Ham United as quoted on BBC Sport.

Bielsa has said that Leeds striker Bielsa could be an option for his side for the Premier League match against Newcastle United next weekend.

Leeds got the better of West Ham 3-2 at London Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Whites will face Newcastle at Elland Road in the league next weekend.

Bamford has missed Leeds’s last six matches due to a hamstring injury and was not even on the bench against the Hammers, as reported by Leeds Live.

BBC Sport quotes Bielsa as saying: “Bamford could be an option [for the next game], but also after a long period of inactivity and slightly less chance Shackleton and Roberts.”

Potential boost for Leeds v Newcastle

In our view, if Bamford is back against Newcastle, then it will be a boost for Leeds.

Now, of course, the striker will not be at his best if he starts against the Magpies.

In fact, Bielsa may not even include the England international striker in the starting lineup.

However, even having Bamford on the bench will enhance Leeds’s chances of winning the match.

After all, the Englishman is the best striker at Leeds.

Bamford has scored two goals and provided two assists in five Premier League starts for Leeds so far this season.

The 28-year-old scored 17 goals and gave seven assists in the Premier League last season.
