Ricky Gervais returns to our screens for the third and final season of After Life. As the comedy lands on Netflix today, 14 January 2022 fans can’t wait to start binge-watching.

Tony (Ricky Gervais) is a journalist who works for a local newspaper called The Tamsbury Gazette. The series follows both his daily and emotional struggles along with his different relationships.

Let’s discover where After Life season 3 is set, and where it is filmed.

Where was After Life season 3 filmed?

Tambury is where After Life is set but it is a fictional town. There are actually many different real-life locations from across the UK where season 3 was shot.

After Life is predominantly filmed in Hemel Hempstead, in Hertfordshire which is on the outskirts of London. Parts of the series were also filmed in Camber Sands in East Sussex, while other parts were shot in Bristol.

A lot of the filming is set in Hemel Hempstead because that is where Tambury Gazette offices are based, as well as café The Coffee Shop.

The crew also shoots in North Hampstead, on the Vale of Heath in North London. Tony lives here with his dog Brandy, and this location was very close to home for Gervais as he also lives near Hampstead, with his wife Jane Fallon.

The care home in which Tony’s father Ray resides is in Beaconsfield which is in Buckinghamshire.

Netflix filming locations explored

Other locations that have been seen before on the show include Hempstead’s The Hill Garden and Pergola and the Villa Bianca Italian restaurant. It is likely that Hampstead Heath may also make a cameo just as it did in season two. Season 2 showed Tony and his dog Brandy sitting on a bench on Parliament Hill.

Places such as Hemel Hempstead’s Gadebridge Park, St Mary’s Church and the Old Town Hall also feature in the show. East Sussex beach Camber Sands has also made an appearance, which is located near the village of Camber and the little town of Rye.
