Scream 5 hit the cinemas on Friday, January 14, but is the movie available on streaming platforms like HBO Max, Netflix and Paramount Plus?

The film franchise has given its viewers chills since 1996, when the first instalment was released.

The 2022 film takes place 25 years after the events of the 1996 Scream. It also features many returning cast members such as Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Marley Shelton.

Is Scream 5 on HBO Max or Netflix?

From the looks of it, Scream 5 is neither on HBO Max nor on Netflix and it might not make its way to the two streaming platforms at all.

The reason for this is Scream is a Paramount movie, not a Warner Bros. film. Hence, it won’t be streaming on HBO Max after the theatrical release.

Last year, Warner Media opted to simultaneously release films in theatres and for HBO Max subscribers. Hence, the streaming platform’s subscribers could watch movies like Matrix Resurrections at home. However, this will not happen with Scream 5 in 2022.

Scream 5 will not be on Netflix any time soon either for the same reason that it’s a Paramount title.

Which platform will the film be released on and when?

Scream fans need not get disheartened though, the film will likely arrive on Paramount Plus. However, it does not have an official release date yet.

However, as per Decider, it’s apparent that films arrive on the streaming service after 30 to 45 days in theatres.

In 2021, Paramount announced that all of its titles would be moving to Paramount+ after 30 days in theatres. But, the big titles would get 45 days in theatres.

Therefore, you will likely be able to watch the new Scream movie on Paramount Plus around the second or third week of February 2022.

How to watch other Scream movies
