Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Eric Dier will not play against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend.
Spurs will take on Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
Ahead of the North London derby, Conte has said that central defender Dier will not play due to a muscular problem.
Conte told Football.London: “With Eric Dier, he is suffering a little muscular problem and he’s not fit for the game against Arsenal.”
Eric Dier absence for Tottenham boost for Arsenal
In our view, Dier, who can also operate as a midfielder, not playing for Tottenham is a boost for Arsenal.
The 27-year-old is a very good player who has been superb as a centre-back for Spurs under Conte.
Dier has made 18 appearances in the Premier League, one in the Carabao Cup and two in the Europa Conference League this season.

Conte plays with three players at the back, and Dier is a regular in Conte’s team.
So, in our view, not having Dier against Arsenal in the North London derby is a blow for Tottenham.
Both Tottenham and Arsenal are in good form at the moment and are aiming to finish in the Premier League top four this season.
The North London derby this weekend promises to be a hugely exciting game and should be very entertaining to watch.
