Alex Crook has claimed that Liverpool target Carney Chukwuemeka has ‘no plan’ to sign a new contract at Aston Villa, as he told talkSPORT.

The talkSPORT journalist added that the 18-year-old, who is being courted by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, has been left ‘disappointed’ by Philippe Coutinho’s arrival because it limits his game time.

It isn’t a surprise that the likes of Liverpool are looking at the ice-cool midfielder because the Aston Villa teenager has the making of a top, top player.

Surely some would feel that staying at an ever-progressing Villa side and playing under the legendary midfielder, Steven Gerrard, is the way forward.

But it doesn’t seem as though Chukwuemeka feels that way and he is heading for the exit door in the summer, according to transfer expert Crook.

“Keep an eye on a young player who has got a bit of game time for Aston Villa lately, Carney Chukwuemeka,” said Crook. “He is out-of-contract at the end of the season.

“I am told that he has no plans to sign a new deal at Villa. There are big clubs, not just in the Premier League, but in Europe looking at him.

“I think he is a bit disappointed at the arrival of Coutinho, probably will again limit his game time, so he is a player that has a bright future. But not at Aston Villa.”

Chukwuemeka made his Villa debut as a 17-year-old when Dean Smith handed him a few minutes against Tottenham last season.

The 2021 FA Youth Cup winner then added his first Premier League start to his name during his side’s 1-1 draw against Brentford in August.

Since then, the midfielder has had to contend with minutes from the bench, both under the sacked Smith and now Gerrard.

Sometimes players need to remember that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side and just because you are highly rated, it doesn’t mean you have earned anything.

Chukwuemeka is going down the right path, but if he moves to a club in Europe, how does he expect to earn more minutes for them when he isn’t doing so for a team outside of Europe?

Either way, Villa fans will be hoping that Gerrard can use his pulling powers to keep the youngster on board because he has a bright future ahead of him.
