Dundee boss James McPake is hopeful of persuading Osaze Urhoghide to leave Celtic in the January transfer market and snub joining Morecambe, according to the Daily Record.
Urhoghide only moved to Parkhead last year at the end of his Sheffield Wednesday contract but has struggled to settle. The 21-year-old has featured just once across all competitions so far. He played the Bhoys’ dead-rubber Europa League group stage win over Real Betis.
Ange Postecoglou now wants the defender to leave Glasgow on loan in the winter sales. He wants Urhoghide to play regular minutes over the second half of the term. He has also not listed the former Owls prospect in any of his Premiership squad sheets since September.

McPake is aware of Urhoghide’s situation at Celtic and is keen to build on the arrival of Jay Chapman. The Canada midfielder joined Dundee on Wednesday after leaving Inter Miami.
The Dens Park gaffer has already discussed a switch from Glasgow during the winter sales with Urhoghide. He is now waiting for the centre-back’s response to the possible deal.
Morecambe may thwart McPake’s Dundee dream for Urhoghide transfer from Celtic
Morecambe may thwart McPake’s Dundee dream by sealing a loan transfer for Celtic talent Urhoghide, however. The Daily Record reported earlier in the week that former Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson wants to take the Dutch-born defender to the Mazuma Stadium.

Like McPake, Robinson knows Postecoglou is open to loan deals and needs new faces in his defence. Morecambe are battling relegation from the English third-tire, sitting 21st in the table. They have also played twice more than AFC Wimbledon in 20th and in safety.
Celtic gem Urhoghide may earn regular game time by sealing a loan transfer to Morecambe or Dundee, though. McPake’s side are 11th in the Premiership and boast the division’s worst defence, having conceded 37 goals in 20 games.
So, Urhoghide – who Dean Ashton said was ‘really impressive’ on EFL on Quest last March – may be a wise loan addition if either Dundee or Morecambe seal his transfer from Celtic.
