According to Football London, Arsenal have completed the signing of 16-year-old wonderkid Lino Sousa from West Brom.

What’s the story?

Well, Football London believe those at Arsenal view Sousa as a potential star of the future, and he’s already training at London Colney.

Per Mertesacker was keen to strengthen the left-back department at Hale End, and he’s now been given an outstanding prospect in that area.

Sousa – who was born in 2005 – played two years above his age group last season when playing an entire campaign for West Brom’s Under-18 side.

Amazingly, the teenager has also started a Premier League 2 game, which usually involved Under-23 players.

Sousa has also represented England at Under-15 and Under-16 level.

What can Arsenal expect from Lino Sousa?

By the sounds of it, Sousa is a prospect of significant potential.

West Brom’s official website describe the youngster as ‘widely versatile’ as well as a player with ‘fantastic dribbling ability and close control’.

Football London‘s report also mentions that Arsenal beat several Premier League sides to Sousa’s signature.

We’re not too sure when the prodigy can expect to feature in the first-team under Mikel Arteta with Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares in the left-back department.

However, it’s good to see the Gunners add a hugely exciting prospect to an area where they didn’t have many options in the Hale End Academy.

As aforesaid, Sousa is extremely versatile, so it’s possible that Arteta moulds him into something other than a left-back.

Whatever the future holds for Sousa at Arsenal, the north Londoners have done well to get this exciting prodigy to London Colney.
