Monaco’s VP Oleg Petrov insists that Premier League giants West Ham United have not made a bid for Aleksandr Golovin, speaking to Metaratings.
Then again, no one ever said that West Ham had made a bid.
There was no suggestion that David Moyes’ side had turned their initial interest into anything more substantial.
But even if West Ham do come calling, luring Golovin away from a Champions League-chasing Monaco side will be easier said than done.
“So far, there have been no offers from West Ham for Golovin,” says Petrov.
“Are we ready to let him go in the winter? It all depends on the offers of the English club. But I think we’ll hardly let him go now.”
Can West Ham or Everton lure Golovin away from Monaco?
Alongside West Ham, Everton are also keen.
Golovin set Monaco back £25 million after impressing at the 2018 World Cup on Russian soil.
The Athletic reports that Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the technically-gifted Golovin, even if recently-departed sporting director Marcel Brands did not share his view.

But after investing around £40 million in Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko, it seems unlikely that an Everton side under pressure from Financial Fair Play can stump up the sort of fee Monaco want, even if Lucas Digne seals a big-money move to Aston Villa this week.
West Ham’s apparent interest has raised eyebrows too.
Not least because Moyes is hardly short of talented attacking midfielders. Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen are already at his disposal.
