Tottenham Hotspur supporters are pretty worried at what Antonio Conte has been saying recently regarding club transfers.
The Italian, during his pre-match Chelsea press conference, was asked about transfers and made it clear that the onus is on the club to do its job and they have the final say.
Conte stated that he ‘spoke’ with the club and he shared his thoughts and now they have to decide ‘the best way to go’.
The one-time Premier League-winning manager added that he ‘doesn’t have any expectations’ and understands ‘we have to solve many problems’
He also added that ‘the last word is always for the club’.
All in all, this is worrying the Spurs fans because they fear that those in the boardroom won’t back him as they should do.
And, as Conte proved when he was at Inter Milan, if he isn’t happy with something, then he isn’t one to hang around and he will leave.
The fear from the Spurs fans is understandable given that they haven’t, in the past, shown to spend in a fashion to match their rivals.
Even when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge, they went a whole summer without spending a single penny.
Whilst that won’t happen again, if Spurs fail to land their targets or the players Conte wants, then it will be interesting to see how he reacts.
The likes of Daniel Levy and owner Joe Lewis aren’t popular figures with the Spurs faithful.
But this is where someone like Fabio Paratici becomes very important because he is like a safety wall in between two demanding individuals in Conte himself and Levy.
