Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he knows about Juventus midfielder Arthur amid reported interest from Arsenal.

The Gunners have something of a midfield crisis on their hands at the moment. Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are away at the African Cup of Nations, while Granit Xhaka has been absent as of late.

Therefore, the London club have been looking at short-term fixes, including a loan move for Arthur.

However, despite the fact Romano is led to believe Arsenal are keen on Arthur, there is a problem.

Indeed, Juventus’ recent injury crisis has reportedly led to the Serie A giants to question whether or not they should loan the Brazilian out.

What’s been said about Arthur?

Romano shared what he knows about the midfielder.

“Yes, for Arthur Melo, Juventus’ midfielder. He’s one of the players that Arsenal are considering as a potential opportunity, but Juventus aren’t sure whether or not to accept loan proposals for Arthur, and Arsenal will not be signing Arthur on a permanent move, so it’s still not advanced for Arthur,” Romano said.

Bad timing

This is just a case of bad timing for Arsenal.

Arthur, barring injuries in the Juventus squad, would probably have been free to go – after all, he’s hardly played this season, but now, after a couple of cruel twists of fate, he may be forced to stay.

Of course, this may be for the good of Arthur’s career, who’s to say he won’t play his way into Max Allegri’s plans during this time? But unfortunately, this could be something of a blow for Arsenal.

The Gunners may now need to find another short-term target to solve their problems in the middle of the park.
