Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers are among the clubs who are reportedly interested in signing West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
Johnstone is out of contract at West Brom at the end of the season, and Ibrox club Rangers have been linked with the 28-year-old goalkeeper.
TEAMtalk reported on December 22 that Rangers could offer Johnstone a pre-contract now and then snap him up on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Tottenham Hotspur are among the English clubs who are interested in the Englishman, as reported by TEAMtalk.
And now West Brom manager Valerien Ismael has admitted that there is a chance that Johnstone could leave despite the club’s desire not to sell him.
BirminghamLive quotes Valerien as saying about Johnstone: “At the minute I am pretty sure that he will stay but you never know what can happen in football if a keeper gets a big injury and a club needs to replace him you never know what the situation could be, but at the moment it’s not the plan for Sam to leave us.
“We want to have all the players. Now Sam needs a break and he has his break to reflect, come back stronger and help us in the season.”

Could Sam Johnstone join Rangers?
In our view, it is unlikely that Rangers will be able to sign Johnstone in the January transfer window or on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
After all, Tottenham and Newcastle United are among the Premier League clubs interested in the 28-year-old, according to TEAMtalk.
Moreover, Johnstone himself has said that he wants to be back playing in the Premier League.
In our opinion, Johnstone would not move to the Scottish Premiership if he gets offers to play in the Premier League.

Rangers interest in Benjamin Siegrist
We think that Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist is a more attainable transfer target for Rangers.
The Daily Mail have reported that Rangers and Southampton are interested in signing Siegrist.
Rangers are reporting planning a pre-contract for Siegrist, who will become a free agent in the summer of 2022, as things stand.
