Newcastle United are set for a busy transfer window.

The Magpies are now the richest club in the world, and with so much financial muscle behind them, they’re going to bolster their squad in order to get themselves out of this relegation battle.

They’ve already started the process by signing Kieran Trippier, and they could be signing another star with links to Burnley if reports are to be believed.

Indeed, The Tyneside club are apparently interested in Chris Wood.

Wood could be an amazing signing for Newcastle.

The Burnley forward has been proving his worth in the Premier League for a number of years, but perhaps the most exciting aspect of this signing would be the potential partnership between Wood and Newcastle’s first January acquisition.

Trippier and Wood could form a very deadly partnership despite the fact one player is a striker and the other is a defender.

Trippier is a brilliant crosser. He got six assists from full-back last season and has averaged 1.5 successful crosses per game throughout his career.

Meanwhile, Wood is a 6 ft 3 centre-forward who can absolutely dominate in the air.

Wood has won, on average, 5.5 aerial duels per game this season, which is an incredibly impressive number.

In fact, that’s the highest tally of any player in the Premier League. Even the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Tomas Soucek can’t match that tally.

Wood is brilliant in the air, and Trippier is one of the best full-backs in the league when it comes to delivering the ball from deep. These two could be an absolute match made in heaven if PIF can pull off this deal.
