John Terry posted on Instagram ‘what a signing’ after Aston Villa finally unveiled the signing of Philippe Coutinho.

On Tuesday evening, Villa’s social media accounts showcased their new number 23 in the colours of Claret and Blue.

Coutinho has officially joined Villa on-loan, until the end of the season, from Spanish giants Barcelona.

Given everything is signed, sealed and delivered, it now means that Coutinho should be in contention to play against Manchester United on Saturday.

On Monday evening, Villa suffered a 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Old Trafford, despite dominating the game, with missed chances and VAR controversy being the main issues.

Steven Gerrard’s side will want to flip that result around at the weekend when they lock horns with the same opposition in front of their own supporters.

Whether Coutinho starts, or whether he comes off the bench, it would be something if he manages to get on the scoresheet and help Villa to all three points.

There is already a positive feel around B6 following Gerrard’s arrival.

And Coutinho has taken the mood up a notch, which is a far cry from the sombre and nervy mood when Villa were on a five-game losing streak.

But, at this moment in time, that ruthless call to sack Dean Smith and bring in Gerrard is proving to be correct.
