Crystal Palace are in talks with Arsenal over Newcastle United January transfer target Eddie Nketiah, according to The Times.

The Times have reported that Palace are now in talks with Premier League and London rivals Arsenal over the signing of Nketiah in the January transfer window.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly wants the 22-year-old striker, also linked with Newcastle, to stay.

The former Leeds United loanee is out of contract at the Gunners at the end of the season.

90min reported last week that Newcastle are keen on Nketiah and have made contact with Arsenal over signing the striker now.

Crystal Palace or Newcastle for Eddie Nketiah?

In our view, Palace would be a better option for Nketiah than Newcastle now.

The Times have reported that the Eagles wanted to sign the 22-year-old striker in the summer of 2021 and had a bid for the youngster rejected.

And Palace, now managed by Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, still being interested in the striker shows how highly he is rated at Selhurst Park.

Yes, Newcastle have the richest owners in club football, but they are in real danger of them getting relegated.

If Newcastle stay up, then it is very likely that PIF will target world-class strikers in the summer of 2022, which means that Nketiah could fall down the pecking order at St. James’ Park after just a few months.
