Jordan Jones could be on the move again just six months after Scottish Premiership champions Rangers sold the Northern Ireland international to Wigan Athletic, as reported by TEAMtalk.
One wonders how things would have worked out for Jones at Ibrox if Giovanni van Bronckhorst had taken Steven Gerrard’s place on the Rangers touchline 12 months earlier than he eventually did.
Because while the former Kilmarnock talisman fell out of favour under Gerrard, off-field issues and poor form bringing an early end to his Gers career, Jones and Van Bronckhorst may have been a match made in footballing heaven.
Van Bronckhorst, after all, loves nothing more than a tricky winger capable of breezing past full-backs and wreaking havoc in the final third.
And that is what Jones, an old-school dribbler with more tricks up his sleeve than a high street magic shop, is all about.
Unfortunately for him, Van Bronckhorst only returned to Glasgow after Rangers had accepted a bid from Wigan Athletic for the seldom-seen 27-year-old.
Will Wigan sell former Rangers man Jordan Jones?
At the time, Wigan appeared to have pulled off one of the most inspired signings of the summer, landing a player who had ripped England’s third tier apart earlier that year during a terrific loan spell at League One rivals Sunderland.

It’s something of a surprise, then, that things have gone so wrong so quickly for Jones in Lancashire.
According to TEAMtalk, the one-time Middlesbrough youngster could be on the move again, just six months into his three-year deal at the DW Stadium.
Then again, the fact that five Championship clubs are interested – Derby County, Blackpool, Luton Town, Reading and Barnsley – is a reflection of how strong this Wigan squad really is, at least by League One standards.
Jones, at his best, would walk into plenty of second-tier sides.
The winger has not started a single one of Wigan’s last 16 league games, failing to get off the bench since November 23rd.
