Kortney Hause wished Axel Tuanzebe ‘all the best’ on Instagram after his Aston Villa loan spell was ended and he joined Napoli.
Manchester United decided to recall their player and then send him out to Serie A, so he can earn regular game minutes.
The 24-year-old posted on Instagram after the move was confirmed, as his former teammate, Yannick Bolasie, also sent a message by saying: “Good luck bro.”
Tuanzebe was brought back for his third spell at Villa in the summer when Dean Smith was in charge.
But five Premier League defeats on the bounce resulted in Smith being sacked and then Tuanzebe’s game time went out of the window once Steven Gerrard was appointed.
Whilst the centre-back’s first two loan spells at Villa were progressive and fruitful to his and Villa’s cause.
It wasn’t the third time around, as the Manchester United man became erratic in his play and struggled to defend the penalty area.
It didn’t help the Englishman’s cause that he was used in a back three and a back two on occasions because he is clearly suited to the latter.
Either way, Tuanzebe will now be another English player plying his trade in Serie A, alongside the likes of Tammy Abraham, Chris Smalling, Fikayo Tomori and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
As for Villa, they will probably search for another central defender during the January transfer window because Hause is the only senior backup to Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings.
