Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Ian McGarry has provided an update on Arsenal’s transfer plans and a potential move for Ousmane Dembele.
The French winger has been the subject of plenty of speculation as of late. He’s been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool, while Newcastle United have also reportedly submitted a proposal to the attacker.
However, Arsenal are now firmly in the race, with McGarry claiming that the Gunners are in talks with the £97m man’s agents.
What’s been said about Dembele?
McGarry shared what he knows about the Barcelona man.
“It is the case that Arsenal are currently speaking to Ousmane Dembele’s agents, the Barcelona striker/winger is available under freedom of contract in the summer. He has rejected Barcelona’s new deal and Mikel Arteta is someone who rates the winger very highly, while Dembele’s time at Camp Nou hasn’t been the happiest,” McGarry said.

Where does he fit in?
As talented as Dembele is, we have to ask, where would he fit into this Arsenal team?
His traditional role on the right wing is currently being occupied by Bukayo Saka – who is arguably Arsenal’s best player, while on the left, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli are already locked in a battle to tie down that position.
Dembele has played as a number nine before, so perhaps that is an option, but that’s not his natural position.
It will be interesting to see how the Gunners use the Frenchman if they get their hands on him.
