Tottenham Hotspur are now considering including Matt Doherty in a deal that would see Adama Traore join from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Athletic report that Tottenham are considering a new bid for Traore having failed with offers over the summer.
Tottenham want to sign Traore and turn him into a wing back – a role he has played occasionally at Wolves.
Antonio Conte wants Traore, believing he can turn him into another Victor Moses – a speedy winger who became an effective wing back.
Traore – branded ‘unplayable’ by Jurgen Klopp – is out of contract in 2023, and Wolves may need to sell now in order to get the best value for him.
The current idea is cash plus Doherty, who only left Wolves for Tottenham in the summer of 2020.
The Express have already reported that Doherty is set to rejoin Wolves after the Molineux club made a bid this week.
Tottenham may now look to use that interest to their benefit by engineering the move for Traore they wanted over the summer.

Doherty would absolutely not be valued at the £15million Tottenham paid, but he could help bring the Traore price down.
Doherty started Wednesday night’s defeat at Chelsea but was substituted at half time, with his Tottenham days potentially numbered.
You can see how this deal would work for Tottenham, but whether Wolves are keen on losing Traore to gain Doherty remains to be seen.
